Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg is excited to announce that as of September 2016 we took possession of a building, which is now our new home. As of the summer of 2017, we are now located at 532 Ellice Ave.
Prior to purchasing the building, we conducted a survey with our client families to understand the limitations of our current location/building and to determine the best location and amenities for them; one which would enhance our clients’ experience and encourage additional community involvement with our Agency through a better equipped, better positioned facility.
We have now concluded the renovations on the building to better suit the needs of the children and youth in our mentoring programs, and have been able to extend office hours for match drop-in Monday – Thursday from 5-8pm and Saturdays from 2-4. Parents/guardians of children on the waiting list are also able to use the space. The feedback in the first few months has been overwhelmingly positive.
However, we are still collecting donations for the Mentoring on the Move campaign. The activities provided in this space will offset the cost of mentoring activities for matches and make mentoring easier. For the price of going out to the movies one time, you can support this new site-based programming, and a home away from home for all our matches. Please consider a donation to the campaign.
